The pepper behind the bottles

Small pepper. Extraordinary heat.

In 2023, Guinness World Records recognized Pepper X at an average of 2,693,000 Scoville Heat Units, based on tests by Winthrop University in South Carolina.

That figure describes the pepper—not the heat of our finished sauces. Every recipe balances Pepper X with its own ingredients, so choose by flavour and the heat rating on the bottle.

The grower behind Pepper X

Meet Smokin’ Ed Currie.

Ed Currie founded PuckerButt Pepper Company in South Carolina. He created the Carolina Reaper and later developed Pepper X, spending more than a decade cultivating the new pepper.

Our part of the story is flavour: bringing Pepper X into three different Ginger Goat recipes, from smoky sauce to savoury maple and hot honey.
